Over the course of the last two days, the construction team has neared the finish line! The feeding center will open for the first time today! Currently, several moms make HUGE pots of food at home and then carry them to the school to feed the children. I'm sure they will be the happiest of women to cook on the grounds!

At the school, kindergarten, first, fourth, and fifth grade meet for 4 hours in the morning followed by the second and third grade in the afternoon. Thus, the VBS teams would repeat activities in the morning and the afternoon. After the plan of salvation was told to the third grade class, the teacher interjected to the students, "Does anyone want to accept Christ now?" Seven students came to the front of the class and prayed to accept Christ, and about seven more decided to do it the next day!

Meanwhile, a smaller team has gone over to Case del Nino (orphanage) to paint various projects around th ebuilding and have VBS activities with the boys.

Sunday's fun

Well, indeed, we had over 200 children come to play yesterday morning--and it went very well. After lunch, about 55 of them came back. Games, crafts, and laughter supported the time together. One of the sweetest moments of the day was observing a woman accept Christ--and that was by midmorning!

The construction team enjoyed working along side many Honduras men and enjoyed being in the same location as the chilren's activities in order to glance over and enjoy the silliness. Tim Probst commented that he marvels that the buillding is in the almost identical state as the building we had to leave unfinished two years ago. So, it's like getting to finish the other one. The construction team had very few tangles yesterday and, therefore, accomplished much.

One team went over to Case del Nino (orphanage) and enjoyed playing basketball and doing crafts with them. Queena, from Hillcrest and a former orphan child herself, got to share her testimony of God's grace to her life, which touched several of the boys.

The day ended with a time of worship together, which was envigorating!

Saturday, Day 1: Honduras 2010

Those of us who have made this trip before are a little speechless over the incredible ease and speed in which today's trip was made! We had no problems navigating through the airport security, enjoyed very short layovers, and most AMAZINGLY went fast through customs!! What usually takes one day short of eternity (in the words of Caiti and Becky Cheary) took less than 30 minutes! AMAZING!! We were out of the airport, packed into our vans, and down the road by 1pm! If all of that were not amazing enough, we had no traffic problems on the road to LaCeiba. We zipped along! Fantastic trip.

We are currently at a meeting where John is encouraging us with scripture. God is promising to come reveal himself to this community where we will be building the new feeding center.

The rain that has been slowing the construction of the feeding center for the last few weeks, which is what we have been praying about. Well, the rain stopped and many fathers in the community volunteered their time this week...and now the project is ahead of schedule!

A new opportunity surfaced for us. We think we might have 200 kids with which to spend tomorrow morning. Thus, over pizza and salad at Pizza Hut tonight at supper, Teri Reed and her supporting elves have blazed forth a plan of attack in our activities and fun for tomorrow morning. :)
